- About Dr. Ranjana Kumari
In a career spanning 4 decades, Dr. Ranjana Kumari has been at the forefront of the women’s rights movement in India. She has combined the roles of an activist and scholar, being an accomplished academician Dr. Kumari with numerous publications to her credit.
The areas of her central concern have been, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign, Political Participation of Women in Democracy and Governance, Safety of Women in the CyberSpace, Education of Girl Children and Anti- Dowry Campaign.
Dr.Ranjana Kumari has been a recipient of several national and international recognition and awards for working towards women empowerment including Lotus leadership award conferred on her in presence of Global leaders in New York. Ranjana Kumari is included in Apolitical’s list of 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy 2019.
She is Member of Safety advisory International Board of Facebook and Trust and safety council of Twitter. Recently she joined the oversight Board constituted for OTT platforms. She also served as Gender expert at the ILO, United Nations in Geneva. Besides she has served on many Government committees and commissions as advisor including National commission for women, Ministry WCD, NHRC, MofL as senior advisor. Notably, she has also served as a Gender Expert at the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
